From The Beginning - How To Swing A Golf Club

To obtain what some might call the perfect golf swing, you will have to put in a great deal of time. If
you want to place your ball exactly where you want off the tee box, you will have to spend years fine tuning your swing.

Are you interested in a really good system to improve your golf swing? The Simple Swing System

When trying to breakdown the mechanics of the whole golf swing, there can be no better place to begin then the backswing. Let’s look at it this way, if your backswing is spot on from the start, you have just won half the battle.

Intro To The Takeaway

Most people who have been playing awhile will tell you, that it’s not how hard you can hit the ball, it’s how you hit it. To achieve this, you have to first make sure your body and club are aligned correctly. Try to keep your club right on the ground as you start your backswing. Make sure your back shoulder is a little lower than your front shoulder. One note here – When you start with your swing, do not move the club fast. This will result in a rather uncomfortable swing plane, resulting in erratic
shots. Believe me, If your shoulders, arms and hips are in a good position, you will surely get a much better swing.

There is a set of players who work on wanting to hit the ball as hard as they can without really looking at the basics. This is a very common condition with most beginner’s, the good news is it’s easily cured, you just have to focus on moving your body in an easy, fluid motion. In most cases, you will find that in doing so, you will have a fluid motion of your arms and shoulders, which will give your ball the desired power and direction too.

It’s every golfers dream to be able to hit that perfect shot over and over again. It all comes down to your technique. If your interested in learning more, see this article,Mastering The Golf Swing

As You Turn

A good backswing is often considered to be a good start to the perfect golf swing, but there is quite some work to be done after this. Every golfer must pay close attention to their whole body at all times, when starting the backswing, keep a close eye on how your right arm is positioned. Make sure, and this is also very important, that it’s tucked up, just a bit to your body. It’s important to not here, make sure you are very loose through your backswing!

Watch the club shaft - Is it in the air? Is it point right back? If this happens, at this point of time, your wrists should start bending naturally. You will want to tighten your grip on your club, don’t do this. Remain loose and casual, but in doing so, you should be in control of the club.

The objective of the backswing is to ensure you get into a position where you can
make the downswing. In order for you to complete your downswing, you must make sure everything is in the correct position, this means your arms, your front shoulder, even your wrists. The club should be in a perfect position, high in the air just past your head. Your front knee should be slightly bent, in line with your back knee. Assuming you have taken all these steps in order to setup up your backswing, you should now be in a great postion, to release your downswing. I hope this short lesson has helped your golf swing.

Remember it all comes down to practice, practice, practice. If you want to read more articles, about all aspects of the game, I’ve provided a link,Golf Swing Tips

Be clinical when you aim and improve your golf swing

Being ready to address the golf ball in the correct way must ultimately improve your golf swing. You should be able to steer the golf ball to any position you have selected on the golf course. To attain this you need to focus on your aim during your set-up to the golf ball.

No success will be possible in most sport without a superior aim. Lots of practice eventually leads to perfection. Invent certain drills on the driving range to improve the proficiency in your set-up, aim and golf swing. As part of your training exercise, place two clubs on the practice tee. The first club located parallel to the way you are going to stand and the second club placed at a right angle to it. To guarantee that you improve your golf swing you have to set up square to the golf ball. The parallel club will ensure this set up is done correctly and the club at right angles will identify the ball location.

Extending the line through the body discovers it going left of the projected target. When you look over your shoulder you will be looking at the left hand side of the target area. If you are looking directly at the intended target area when looking over your shoulder it means that you are guiding your shot to the right of the target. The direction of your club head also aims that way.

The proper lining up of your golf swing means that your body and particularly your feet, knees and shoulders ought to be aligned to the route your stroke is going to assume. We would like to apply the example of hitting the golf ball on a railway track. Lines drawn through the knees, feet, hips and shoulder ought to be parallel to the left hand side track and the golf ball to be put on the right hand side in the direction of the target.

For the beginner to improve his golf swing may well be complicated enough and consequently this line up to the golf ball may appear to be very unnatural. The golf player will have to estimate the line without in fact being over the line of the proposed shot, in addition to estimating the line while being sideways to the target. Not being able to line up as expected will lead to you misguiding your stroke more often than not.

A fantastic golf tip to improve your golf swing and overcome miscalculations in alignment of the swing is to pick a place a few inches in front of where you placed the golf ball.  Focus on the selected mark rather than your intended objective in the distance. The mark could be anything from a leaf to maybe a piece of branch. After selecting your aiming spot, take up your set up position by placing your feet and shoulders parallel to the imaginary line on the ground.

Focusing on the aiming spot instead of the projected target area throughout the whole golf swing appears to be popular with a whole bunch of golf players. Certain players fix on the aiming spot, but also like to then check their target area a few times before they start their golf swing. This may contribute to a golfer feeling misaligned and wrongly altering his position to one that feels more suitable, but that is evidently an incorrect position. Forget the option of looking up at the target. Locate your spot, set-up and hit your stroke by utilizing the imaginary line. By following all the above tips you are sure to improve your golf swing.

Cobra L5V Driver Review

The new Cobra L5V driver is equipped with a large face that combines light carbon crown and sole insert to move the center of gravity (CG) low.  In fact, the Cobra L5V CG is so low that as much as 70 percent of the face is above the CG!  So if you are looking for a low CG, you’ve found you’ve found it with the L5V.

Tom Morris, Principal Design Lead Engineer from Cobra, states “this is significantly more than most drivers (CG) and ensures over a high ball speeds to optimize launch conditions over a large face area.”

The Cobra L5V combines titanium (body, face and insert), carbon composite (crown and sole) aluminum (hosel), stainless steel (swingweight screw) and tungsten (screw) to make for no limitations in terms of the weight that can be moved around the head.

Actual Player Feedback-

“played 36 holes this weekend with this driver with the stock Diamana Redboard stiff and all I can say is wow, this this is seriously long”

“blows me away, better then any driver i have hit including the FT-iq, 09 burner, cleveland launcher”

“I like the big, rounded head, and the dimples on the top are cool; it give me something to focus on…”

“Very lightweight and it screams confidence with its high trampoline effect…”

Pros/Positives-

2 adjustable settings to optimize your personal ball flight and a stock Diamana Red shaft makes for a great combination for the recreational player or better to fit nicely into this driver.

Cons/Negatives-

If it made the face angle adjustment up to 2 degrees instead of only 1, it would have been more meaningful.

Overall Rating-

The Cobra L5V driver may be one of those new drivers that takes the market by surprise.  However the concern is that the driver may not have been marketed to the point that most golfers will find it.  Cobra for the most part, makes good drivers and markets them well.  But this one just didn’t catch on as much as the others in its class.  Nothing taken away from this driver though, it has had great comments.  My advice would be to demo it to see if fits your swing.

Keep Your Head Still For A Good Golf Swing

If I had a pound for every time I’ve heard a well meaning golfer say to his friend or golf partner for the day keep your head down “You lifted your head, thats the reason you hit a bad golf shot, Keep your head down” Then I would have a lot of money indeed. This one piece of well intended advice is a killer for a good golf swing … please do not Keep your head down - KEEP YOUR HEAD STILL.

The more you try to keep your head down during the golf swing, the less chance you have of achieving the correct full turn of your shoulders on the backswing. Your shoulder rotation will either be restricted by the head position or you will compensate by tilting your shoulders, either way keeping your head down is going to cause serious problems and they just get worse as i hear you muttering to yourself “gotta keep my head down, must keep my head down, please don’t let my head come up again” damn another bad shot !!!! and on and on …

Ok so what should you do i hear you say. The answers as always are straightforward and if you are struggling with your golf swing because you are trying too hard on keeping your head down, STOP right now.

What you must do straight away is lift your chin up as high as you can while still being able to see the golf ball comfortably, this will produce a good golf posture keeping the back of your head in a straight line with your spine. If you can do that you will create space for the correct shoulder turn on the backswing without knocking your head to one side or causing you to tilt, therefore making sure your head has a chance to remain STILL.

And therein lies the key that will help you to create a sound and repeatable swing, allowing you to maintain your height throughout the golf swing leading to more consistent golf shots. It will take time to adjust and get comfortable with your new head position but it will be worth it, so practice this and reap the rewards.

Remember next time your on the golf course … don’t keep your head down, Lift your head and this will allow you to keep your HEAD STILL. Which was after all your intention when concentrating so hard to keep it down.

Find The Best Ball

Golf Ball Tips – Select the Best Ball

It’s really astonishing to see many golfers spending more money in picking their golf clubs with kid’s gloves and they just use any old balls which are available for playing. What those people do not understand is that picking the correct golf ball is just as significant as picking the right clubs.

The production of golf balls has amended impressively over the years, and now there are more options to be made than of all time. But the great news is that basically there are only three major kinds of golf balls to be interested with, no issue what the advertisements for each item-by-item brand may take.

Types of Golf Ball and Golf Ball Tips

The first kind of golf ball is known as the two-piece ball, and golf ball tips is that these golf balls are specific configured for offering as much distant as possible. Surlyn is used as material for firm outer cover so it is hard to cut down. The center of the ball is also formed from very tough material to also raise distance potentialities. The only withdraw is that two-piece golf balls normally have is that they give less spin, and less power to direct.

The next kind of golf ball is called the three-piece ball, and they are just exact inverse of the two-piece ball in that rather than being configured basically for distance, their main purpose is to help add more spin and this golf ball tips is that it allows the golfer good control over their shot making. This is achieved by having a comparatively soft outer cover, normally Balata, and a solid center that is covered with a third layer of material within. This pattern assist the golfer have more comfortable in each shot, but these balls are also lighter to cut down.

The third type of golf ball is oft cited to as a general-purpose golf ball. These try to span the gap among the two-piece ball and the three-piece ball. The golf ball tips is that over all they can give a good compromise among distance and feel, while also being long-lasting as well. It must be said that they are not perfect in any specific area inspite they are a best all rounder.

With this info in mind, which golf ball should one pick then? The solution to that doubt most possibly will depend on the golf ball striking tips and skill level and how one pick to play the game. New players should test to adhere with the two-piece ball when they start because of its particular durability and additional distance.

Preparing For A game Of Golf

Golf is a game of ups and downs – one minute you are playing amazing golf and the next you can’t do a thing right. So what’s the easiest way to achieve a more consistent golf game? The obvious answer is through practice, because every one of us if we are being truthful do not visit the practice ground very often.

I appreciate this is not easy; we all lead busy lives and find it difficult to spare the time for practice right? So if you struggle to make time to get to the driving range or practice ground at your local golf club, then you have to be better prepared when you do get the chance of a game of golf.

I have witnessed this many times, hurtling down the road at the last minute grab the golf equipment, sprint to the first tee and before you know where you are your handicap has been used after 6 holes. Be honest with yourself here and think which nine you play better, the front or back. The majority of golfers will say the back nine, and the simple reason being, they have warmed up by then and are playing at their normal pace and in control.

Try and impliment these tips in your preparation for better golf.

1. Get to the golf course earlier than you would normally; give yourself an extra 20 minutes before you tee off. This will allow you to relax and organise yourself for the game ahead.
2. Use the extra time to stretch those golf muscles, use 2 clubs together and gently practice the movements in your golf swing, slowly building up to a full swing.
3. The little time you have remaining you should spend on the putting green getting used to the speed of the greens for the day. If it’s allowed hit a few practice chips around the putting green, although a lot if not all golf clubs don’t allow it.
4. Reaching the first tee a few minutes before teeing off is very important, this will give you time to exchange cards with your partners, arrange terms of your game for the day etc and it will allow you to organise yourself and prepare for the first shot of the day.

Allowing yourself the extra time to do this will get your game of golf off to a good start and not the usual crazy sprint to the first tee with stiff muscles trying to make a decent swing, then finding yourself off to the usual bad tee shot and resulting poor golf until you warm up and play your normal game.

DON’T DO IT  !!!!!!!!!

Give yourself a break and enjoy a better golf by following these few tips in golf preparation, and give yourself the best chance to enjoy those precious few hours at your golf club. Your leisure time is priceless, so make sure you get the best out of your game of golf.

The Simple Golf Ball And How It Affects Your Game

This subject is dear to my heart and I have discussed at great length with Amateur members at my golf club regarding the type of golf ball they are using. The answer is nearly always the same. They use different golf balls from day to day, sometimes using different types and makes in the course of a single round. Just bear with me for a moment while I explain how this can affect your scores and handicap in a big way.

Picture the scene if you will - David has just hit his second shot out of bounds on the fifth hole using a Top Flite XL, he then proceeds to use another golf ball this time it’s a Titleist ProV1 which he plays to the front of the green, he is now about 15 yards from the pin and takes his trusty 8 iron out and proceeds to chip the ball to the hole, it comes up about 4 yards short. Under normal circumstances David is excellent around the greens and was surprised to see his golf ball pull up short; he shaves the hole with his putt, taps in then carries on with his round of golf as if nothing untoward had happened

Ok let’s back up a bit here and analyse that scenario. I am sure by now a few of you have guessed the problem, its common enough and happens thousands of times a day on golf links around the world.

When David changed his ball to a ProV1 he created the problem with his next shot from the edge of the green. David plays most of his golf with a top flite ball which jumps off the face of a club quicker than a ProV1, but because he changed to the softer ProV1 (which you need to hit firmer) his chip ended up short with the subsequent missed putt costing him a valuable stroke.

Different types of golf balls react differently for a variety of full shots as well, not to mention putting which makes distance control very difficult if you chop and change your golf balls all the time. Feel is a very important factor in golf and should not be overlooked.

The truth of the matter is you should use the same type and make of golf ball all the time. I am not saying you shouldn’t try different Golf balls but you should become familiar with a Golf ball and not chop and change too often. Especially during the course of a round. Get used to the ball you use so you can be more consistent.  I cannot stress strongly enough to you how important this will be to your future scores. Like I said earlier this is a common mistake that most of us at some time have been guilty of.

Next time you go to play check the golf balls you are carrying and make sure the ones you take out onto the course with you are all the same type and make.

This is one thing you can all do, no excuses, enjoy your game.

Take a Look Inside A Golf pro’s Bag

I have been a Golf professional since 1976 and have used a lot of different companies during this time when choosing the right golf bag, golf glove, golf clubs, golf shoes etc etc. for my game.
I am not one of the mega stars who get paid indecent amounts to promote their products; I have to pay for mine albeit at a discount on the trade price. So this is not an advertisement for the company, it is my honest opinion as a Golf Professional on the quality of the golf gear I use.

The Titleist PROV-1 is without doubt the best golf ball I have ever tried and has been in my golf bag for many years; in all truth I must have used a titleist golf ball for at least 2 decades. When I first started playing golf it was a Dunlop 65 fresh out of the wrapper, for those of you too young to remember golf balls used to be packaged in a wrapper back in the 1970’s and before. Time fly’s when your’e enjoying yourself so they say. Anyway what was i saying? Oh yeah, why the PROV-1? - Simple really, it goes a long way, flies high, stops on a dime and has a lovely soft feel for those chips around the green. Enough said.

I use a Titleist Players golf glove or a Footjoy Sta-Sof golf glove, both are made from top quality cabretta leather giving you a superb feel and they are very comfortable to wear. A lot of casual golfers use the All-Weather glove or man made versions, but I prefer the soft feel of leather and although the leather golf glove costs a little bit more they are well worth the extra money in my opinion. I know a few of you guy’s use the all-weather glove because it has an extra pad on the heel of the palm to help with wear and tear. Nearly every golf glove wears out there first, some faster than others. But that usually stems from a faulty grip on the golf club, gripping the club too tightly at address and loosening your grip at impact, causing excessive wear and tear on your glove. But that’s another story, visit your golf pro and he will give you sound advice with regard to this problem.

The golf Irons i use are the Titleist Z-Blend Forged with a dynamic gold S shaft and tour velvet grip. They are a blended cavity to muscle back forged iron, which means that the long irons are cavity backed, the mid irons are a partial cavity and the short irons muscle back blade. This is a great idea and has been around for a few years now, help where needed in the longer irons gradually blending to a blade type short iron for that classic look and playability. I love these irons, they are great to look at and have a lovely feel off the club head. In my humble opinion you cannot beat a forged golf club head for exceptional feel and playability.

Well that’s about it, just a small selection of the things you will see in my golf bag. The best golf ball, the best glove, the best irons and the best golfer of all time using them. OK scrap that last comment, we all have our dreams.

Enjoy your golf, look after your golf equipment and if you are having difficulties with your game find a golf professional you like and respect and get some golf lessons from him. If you work at any changes in your game then you will benefit from them in the long run, if you don’t, then it will be just like all the other golf tips you have discarded as being useless.

Interesting Information About Top Accessories For Golf Clubs

Persistent innovation in the golf business has made for several cool creations and advancements. Golfers have witnessed many benefits, which involve greater caliber clubs and golf courses among several other things. Previously, golf has been thought of as a slow paced and tiresome activity, calling for a lot of of work in addition to trekking on behalf of the player. Well, there’ve been many varied accessories introduced recently which will make everything about playing golf easier.

How about the many types of eyewear which permit you to better see the golf ball that you have just hit? They clean out the majority of the light that is emitted by non-golf ball things, leaving your ball displayed nicely against the grass. If you lose your golf ball often or have trouble keeping tabs on your golf balls when you hit them, these glasses can be an excellent purchase on your part so that you can continue to use the same golf ball instead of beginning with a fresh one. They are available in certain golf club stores, but for the most part they’re available within a number of Internet stores.

Here exist numerous useful tools which are intended to help you practice different areas of your stroke. Perhaps the more popular ones are the ones that involve the putt, which is among the toughest and more critical parts of the whole golfing procedure. The wide range of golf accessories involved in putting are too numerous to name, although some of the more fashionable include an inside putting surface that provides you with balls as well as advice on your putt, a putter that contains numerous balls within its shaft to provide when required, and several other items.

You may assume that golf tees are just as complex as they are really going to become, however this is not the case as different types of compound have made it possible for golf tees to posses new upper portions which act as brush-like surfaces. When a player hits the ball, the club will brush right past the topmost section of the tee without smashing it or tear it out of the dirt therefore it’s nearly like having the ball held in midair to strike with the golf club. If you want such tees, you will probably have to look on the Internet and purchase several dozen of them, as they’re not carried at very many club stores as of yet.

Computer scorers can definitely make the game simpler by keeping tabs on everyone’s scores and performing all of the complicated calculations for you, found in the style of tiny miniature computers, no larger than the size of a Gameboy Advance. The number of supported players varies from device to device, but you shouldn’t have much difficulty obtaining a model which allows the amount of people that you need. There’s even watches that feature handicapping programs integrated into them, how is that for convenient?

Even the reusing of balls is more convenient now, with cleaners that you can buy so all you’d need to do is pick up a bunch of old balls throughout the day, then drop them into the toaster oven sized cleaner. In a very short time, the balls would be as good as new. Through reusing balls in this way, you may save a large amount of cash. The washers are also capable of cleaning the heads of clubs, and that is a huge time saver for those that are tired of cleansing the grass stains from their clubs.

As you can see, all of these creations have rendered golf a lot easier, and will speed up tasks which would have been mundane before. As technology continues to progress, with any luck we will continue to see more golfing accessories which are equally revolutionary.
